My wonderful husband and I really enjoyed our Rhine River Cruise!

I've always wanted to experience a European River Cruise, but Kent wasn't really interested at first. He loved the many Caribbean cruises that we've been fortunate enough to experience, however he decided to give in to me as part of our 20th wedding anniversary.

We flew into Zurich, Switzerland and stayed for 2 nights prior to our cruise and had fun exploring the city and getting aclaimated to the time change.  On the day that the cruise was due to depart, we met our fellow cruisers at a local Zurich hotel and took the motor coach transfer with them to Basil.

The river cruise ship was a smaller vessle and could berth about 150 passengers although our sailing had about 130 people on board during our sailing.

Our stateroom had lovely floor to ceiling windows with a sliding glass door opening to a French Balcony.  The room was well appointed, had plenty of storage, with a very comfortable bed.  I was pleasantly suroprised by my bathroom...the shower had a glass door...not a shower curtain that would stick to me.

We really enjoyed the smaller vessel, and the opening dining which meant that if we met interesting new friends, (which we did) on one of the complementary shore excursions, we wouldn't have to cut our conversations short because of assigned tables in the dining room.   Breakfast and Lunch was buffet style, while dinner was a sit-down affair that included wine, beer or soft drink as you desired.  Although I don't partake, my tablemates glasses were never empty...or at least not for long!  ;)

The included shore excursions were WONDERFUL!  90% of all the passengers opted to participate and they were very well organized.  The guides were very knowledgeable and entertaining.  There were some optional tours, but Kent and I found that we really enjoyed walking from the location that the ship was docked into the town or village.  We like to see the local shops and find that there is always a little cafe where we can sit and people watch.

The crew were accomodating, the ship clean, the Captain a hoot and the nighly entertainment...well, it was entertaining!

Our 7 night itinerary...

Basel, Switzerland
Strasbourg, France
Heidelberg, Germany
Mainz, Germany
Rudesheim, Germany - Rhine River Gorge - Koblenz, Germany
Koln, Germany
Amersterdam, Netherlands

Our cruise was worth EVERY penny!

Kent had a great time and we're trying to decide which River Cruise to take next!
